Raptor Red is a 1995 fiction novel by paleontologist Robert T. Bakker.
The book is a third-person account told from the point of view of Raptor Red, a female Utahraptor. The book follows a year in Raptor Red's life as she loses her mate, finds her family, and struggles to survive in a hostile environment.
Ok so why should I care about this Deviant?
You should care because I hope to make an animated movie of this book! It has been a long-term goal of mine to eventually make animated shorts based on this book. It is what we like to call an adaptation in the film industry. And I need you, because not only are you my target audience, but those of you whom appreciate paleo-art, can help critique and refine my ideas!
A little about me
Im a film student out of the U of A, not generally known for their film school vs. the students drinking abilities but hey we all start somewhere right. Ive attended many trade shows and conferences and have even written a few academic papers on HDRI projection. I begin my MFA in VFX in the fall to The Academy of Art: University of San Francisco. Which I hope will help develop my skills further and I can begin to model and animate these animals.
Anyone who wishs to become more involved in this project is more than welcome to as I am not the be it and end all of paleo-art! Far from it! At this point Im in pre production stages.. well ha ha the art stage of the pre production. Im doing character development and storyboarding. So if you think you would like to aid in that, or have an expertise you would like to offer, by all means shoot me a note! I also open this to anyone who also knows different facets of the pre production process. I want things to be accurate, and scientifically based. This is a film project centering around non talking animals NOT a monster movie!
So please if you like something tell me why.. I too, am notorious for faving and leaving lol. However unlike my other account ~TotalEclipseStudios Im using this for the soul purpose to collaborate and develop ONE - idea. Which is why I beg all of you to give your two cents. Even if its along the line of Hey cool raptor, because it lets me know things are moving in the right direction. If at all possible be critical!
Thank you, and of course more artwork is to follow!
